PET OWNER RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

1.                  Owners must pre-register their pets with The Dawg House before a disaster strikes.  You can download this registration form or pick one up at The Dawg House located at 69 Dawg House Drive in Lake Placid (off Henscratch)

a.                   Fill out registration form.  Please include (if available) a picture of you and your pet(s) in the upper right hand corner.

b.                  Proof of shot records from a Vet. are required at time of registration.  Requirements are: Rabies, DHpp2, Bordetella, and a wellness evaluation.

c.                   Please make sure you pet is de-wormed and pest free. All pet(s) without proof of Flea and Tick control will be supplied a Flea and Tick collar at  owners expense.

d.                  Please place your Registration card, and Release form (fold-free) into a large Ziplock bag and bring to  Pre-Registration.

e.                   If your pet is sick or has parasites, contact a Veterinary Hospital from the Emergency Contact Phone Numbers and arrange for your pet to shelter there.

f.                   We reserve the right to refuse any unhealthy pet, or an animal that appears uncontrollable or dangerously aggressive.

2.                  Owners are required to provide the following supplies when they drop off their pets.  It is advised that these items have identification marks on them to prevent loss.

a.                   A sanitized crate with working door.  There should be a towel inside the crate. It is preferable to have the pet in the crate when you bring them to the shelter.

b.                  A sturdy collar and leash.

c.                   Bowls for food and water that will fit inside the crate with your pet.

d.                  A comfort toy and/or a chew toy if desired.

e.                   A sheet or substitute to cover the crate.

f.                   A 3-day supply of food in a ziplock bag.  Label ziplock bag with pet’s name and provide instructions for amount of food to be given once a day.

g.                  A gallon of water and a roll of paper towels.

h.                  CAT OWNERS- in addition to the above mentioned items, please bring litter, and a trash bag. (no boxes please)

3.                  Remember, storage space is limited, so please do not bring more supplies than are necessary, and please bring no bulky items.
