Highlands County and Dog Designs by Dana have worked together to provide safe shelter for pets during a disaster.  Pet owners have an obligation to make contingency plans for their pets in the event of an emergency.  This shelter is intended to support those persons evacuating to Emergency Shelters who have NO other alternatives.

 

ABOUT US

 

Dog Designs by Dana has teamed up with Highlands County Emergency Management to provide you, your families, and your pet(s) a safe-haven in the event of an emergency. Highlands County's # 1 concern is life safety during a disaster, providing a Shelter to protect the lives of people. Dog Designs by Dana has the accommodations to protect your pet(s) while you seek shelter for yourself and your family in one of Highlands County general shelters.

 

ABOUT THE FACILITY

 

Dog Designs by Dana "Pet Motel" was completed in November 2006. Designed and built by the owners, Greg and Dana McPherson, it was their intent to provide this service to the community, therefore it was designed with soundness in mind. It is constructed of concrete block, each cell filled with sand. There are 4 ft. tall concrete wall dividers between each kennel, being 3 ft. wide. There are extra hurricane straps, and a screw every foot apart on the roof. We have generators to provide air and/or heat when/if the electric fails. Dana has experience working with animals for 25 years. 10 years in business in Highlands Co. Our #1 concern is the care and well-being of your pet(s).

 

COST'S AND FEE'S

 

There is NO fee to Shelter your pet(s) during a Disaster, however you must retrieve your pets as soon as you have been released from the general shelter and assessed your damages.  If circumstances dictate that you need to board your pets, you may do so as a customer of Dog Designs by Dana. Please check "Rules and Regulations" for fee's that MAY apply.
